The Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) programme was introduced by the Canadian government in August 2017 to give ASEAN students the chance to conduct short-term study or research in Canadian postsecondary institutions in fields that support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member countries and Canada are intended to benefit from increased educational and cultural exchange through the programme.

Through collaborative educational efforts, the main goal of the Canada-ASEAN Scholarship Programme is to advance understanding and fortify relations between Canada and the ASEAN area. The programme seeks to lessen poverty in ASEAN’s emerging nations.
This scholarship programme gives ASEAN students the chance to study in Canada for a higher degree, promoting academic excellence, cultural diversity, and global citizenship. Eligibility Criteria
In order to qualify, you must be:
1. A national of one of the following ASEAN nations: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos (People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) of Laos), Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, or Vietnam
2. A full-time student in an ASEAN member state’s postsecondary institution
3. Paying the institution’s tuition costs both at the time of application and throughout your exchange.
Depending on the level of study and certain scholarship programmes, different conditions may apply. Generally speaking, applicants must exhibit academic distinction, leadership potential, and a desire to give back to their home nations once their studies are over.
Application Process
The application process for the Canada-ASEAN Scholarship Program involves multiple stages. Interested candidates are typically required to complete an online application form, provide supporting documents such as academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a statement of purpose.

Graduate students earn CAD 13,200 for a period of five to six months of research while master’s and doctoral students receive CAD 10,700 for a minimum of four months or one academic term.
