The Yale Scholarship, a need-based scholarship for undergraduates, is a gift and doesn’t require repayment. The Yale Scholarship amount is shown on the Financial Aid Award Letter if a student receives financial aid. The university does not have any scholarships in the institute but students are given financial aid in the form of gifts and grants which are not to be repaid. Some grants and Financial Aid are given in the form of;

1. YALE SCHOLARSHIP

The first of these grants is the Yale Scholarship which is not necessarily seen as a scholarship but an award or gift that does not have to be repaid. The scholarship gives students an amount that is often not fixed but could range between a few hundred dollars to over $70,000 for an academic year.

The average amount to be given for a scholarship could be $50,000 which is funded by gift aid from Yale’s alumni and friends. If a student is given financial aid , it is written on the Financial Aid Award Letter as part of the student’s details.

2. MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

Yale as already said does not award scholarships to students. However, Yale students can get scholarships from other organizations. The criteria for receiving this scholarship are based on the merit of the student’s academic, sports, and music performances.

Awards can be gotten from private companies, employers, and Nonprofit organizations. Students are to however note that if you are on Financial Aid, the chances of getting a scholarship from merit-based organizations are very slim. Even If you get the scholarship, it does not cover what the financial aid office covers.

3. ENTITLEMENT GRANTS

The entitlement grants awards are awarded by the federal government, state agencies, or other agencies who are not associated with Yale. Federal requirements, place of residence (city or state), or employment status are the requirements for entitlements. Although an entitlement grant may include a merit component, the resource is typically seen as an entitlement if the student would not receive it without a need.

Some sources of Entitlement Grants may include;

1. Fedell Pell Grants

2. State Grant

3. Employer Tuition Benefits

4. Yale Club or Association Scholarships

Kindly note that the average need-based Yale scholarship is over $50,000, but it can range from a few hundred dollars to over $70,000 year.
